Rookie 8 th July.. Bobby Moore, great in his day wouldn't get a game for Utd U-16s today. Live and comment on the 'real' world. Of football.

Interesting concept to cogitate. Would a certain S. Gerard, who as England's perceived saviour have fared any better for Utd. over the last 7 years as Carrick when his artificially created role for England proved to be an abject failure?

Oh ye of absolutely no football knowledge, qualifications, nor an ounce of the Modern Characteristics of football.
Too many players, managers and coaches still extol Carrick's virtues..not his failings. Negativity drives on this forum.hence the monicker.
I ADORE MAN. UTD.
Bobby Moore wouldn't get a game today...too small..too slow
Mr. Keane wouldn't last 2 mins with modern refereeing ...apart from great Captaincy ..one-paced...not ver y technical..
Grow up forum..see reality of modern soccer..

Anonymous sat, 02 feb 2013 and thurs, 21 feb 2013 ... u totally correct - POGBA gonna rule midfield!!! wish he was still at united instead of 'bambi on ice'- aka michael carrick. And you dont need an FA coaching qualification since 1976 (wow) to see that, and please dont compare Bobby Moore (an english great) to bambi (who didnt even make the world-cup squad), or Paul Scholes/Xavi they can play FAST ... passes/ through-balls/ attacking football - CARRICK CANNOT, they not in the same league !!! As someone mentioned, carrick is at best a championship player, no way a premier league/ champion league/ world-class player !! thank-you!

Reply-to:Carrick = s.p.a...slow, pathetic and an arsehole when it comes to creative play.  Hes one of the worst players to ever put the Utd jersey on and the primary reason why Utd dont play the fast, free-flow attacking football of old because everytime the balls goes to him he spends about 15 seconds wondering who to side foot pass it to.  Even a faulty milk float is faster than him.

Reply-to:i am glad there is a forum that recognises the flaws of a player who continues to receive accolades for the easiest position on the pitch. united has the number one defensive midfielder who cant defend, period [and i dont consider marking space defending, you dont need to be carrick to mark space]. Combined with the lack of passing speed and fluidity we have the British Player of the Year. For too long he has been covered by great attacking players. lets go through the list. Ronaldo, tevez, berbatov, rooney, rvp, not to mention being carried by one of the greatest box-to-box midfielders i.e. paul scholes. But dont worry carrick is still the man!! i feel sorry for any midfielder playing along side him doing doggies to receive the ball!! those who say otherwise dont understand the concept of central midfield. defensive midfielder or not the best midfielders can create not so much opportunities, but space for themselves and others. how can carrick create space when he cant even go past another player. He is a massive waste of space and the sooner he is gone the better

'Twas nice to hear Rio extolling Carrick on national TV as a 'players' player not appreciated by the fans.' Yes, he is a friend and long-time teammate but as a professional and United player and captain as well as being a very classy England player, some credence should be given to his opinions. After all, he played in the same team .........did I forget to mention....none of you did. Then again, why trust a fellow pro when YOU are the experts.....mmmm ..someone on this forum show your medals..unless you've been there and got the T-shirt...............hollow criticism from hollow critics......shallow football arguments.
To qualify my credentials, I have been an FA Coach since 1976 and I do see Carrick's faults.

Alas my last post. The non - coaches, non-managers, non-soccer literate amongst you have had the final say. Re-form this forum in 20 years time when England's headless, fast-moving chickens have won nothing. Ask yourself why Bobby Moore got a game, being INCREDIBLY SLOW. Only then will you realise that speed of brain always outweighs fleetness of foot. Think if you are able..in soccer terms. Sadly the collective one brain cell of this forum died in its initial concept. Keep up the good work....promote speed over talent.

Apparently all back -copies of Walter Winterbottom' s coaching manual have been sold to members of this forum. Congratulations...big words like initiation to create response appear to have been lost in text. So have the said initiators of response ..Ronaldo ..Tevez...et al been lost. Even my midfield hero... PAUL SCHOLES would have made little difference this season. Why blame the sheepdog Carrick, when the shepherd The Manager, this season was blind and the forward sheep, all of them, too nervous to move. Check your videos. Remember sideways usually means ' nothing on up front..' Ball retention skills..if they don' t have it...........etc. Advice ..forget this season, give up your season ticket and spend your money watching your local pub team. After all, they hump the ball forward to your delight.
